Realistic operational training in the Velsen adventure mine

Where every exercise counts

Training for fire departments, THW, police and rescue dog teams in Saarland

In the Velsen adventure mine, emergency services find ideal conditions for realistic training. The 800-metre-long underground route offers narrow passages, machine areas, a longwall mining section and variable lighting conditions right through to complete darkness. Perfect for practising operations under real challenges and optimally preparing teams.

Training under realistic conditions

Whether searching for people with rescue dogs, orientation training or complex situations for the fire department and THW - the mine offers a variety of training scenarios that realistically simulate an emergency. If desired, exercises can be carried out completely in the dark to introduce teams and dogs to particularly demanding operational situations.

Rescue dog teams train in the Velsen adventure mine

In May 2013, 35 rescue dogs from Germany and Luxembourg - including mantrailers - completed several days of training in the Velsen adventure mine. The special structure of the underground area provided ideal conditions for search, orientation and deployment exercises with numerous realistic scenarios. The mine proved to be a versatile training ground with demanding challenges for dogs and teams.
