Big Machine with 2500 Horse Power

Special in Saarland

The Gustav II Nord Hoist Machine

The Gustav II Nord Hoist Machine is a special part of Saarland's mining history. It was built in 1916 by Dingler's Machine Factory in Zweibrücken. It worked for almost 100 years. The machine stopped working in 2005. Today, it is the oldest steam hoist machine in Saarland. It is a special technical monument.

Gustav Shaft II with 2 Towers

The Gustav Shaft II had 2 independent lifting systems. The machine house has a double design. The South machine was destroyed. The North machine is in very good condition.

From Steam to Compressed Air

The steam machine from 1916 was changed in 1936. It got a new modern wheel system. In the last years, it used compressed air. This happened after the boiler house was removed for a new building.

Special in the Region

The Mining and Metalworking Club worked hard to keep the machine safe. Today, it is the oldest steam hoist machine in Saarland. It shows the history of our industry. Visitors can travel back in time and see old technology.

"The huge steam machine is amazing. When you stand in front of it, you can feel the skill of old engineers. It is exciting for anyone who loves technology."
